During my time aboard Saga Sapphire I ate a lot of GOOD food, and I photographed nearly all of it so that I could share it with you!
Everything shown today in my blog was included in the fare price – even the specialty option of East to West! So, we have food from Pole to Pole, The Grill, East to West, Beach Club and room service – they offered fillet of beef on room service, I had to sample it! 😉
During the cruise we also had several BBQ’s, but 2 of them were nothing short of epic. I will share a few of the BBQ pictures today, but I will also put a blog together specifically showcasing the scale of both. They were incredible, they really deserve their own space. By far the BEST BBQ’s I have had on any voyage, and Saga Sapphire was my 30th cruise, so that says a lot.
All of the food onboard was bursting with freshness and a lot of it was specifically cooked to order. The bread and pastries were all made onboard (I developed an obsession with the pain au chocolat), as were the soups, and I do like a good soup!
I can honestly say that I didn’t have one bad meal on during my cruise, I just kept asking for more because I couldn’t get enough of the flavours! I can be quite a picky eater, but there were only 2 evenings that I can recall where I struggled with the restaurant menu and opted for room service instead.
I guess today a virtual lunch is on me, and I really hope you enjoy it!
I would like to say a massive thank you to Thierry Cherronnet Executive Chef de Cuisine, Francis Alimon Sous Chef, and the entire team aboard Saga Sapphire – the food was superb and I will make sure you are pre-notified of my next arrival – I need more Satay Lillit! 😉
Freshly cooked omelette, baked beans, hash brown and delicious crispy bacon.Classic prawn cocktail (room service)Aloo Palak – spiced curry with potato and spinach. It was delicious!Chicken salad (room service)Tempura calamari with cilantro salad and Kaffir lime vinaigrette. I couldn’t possibly share every single photo of every single thing I ate during the 16-night cruise, it probably would have taken me a month to put it all together, but hopefully the images above show you just how good the food aboard Saga Sapphire was – I only wish you could taste it!!!
I returned last Friday from a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords with Saga Sapphire. I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. The food was superb. I travelled as a single passenger and was very well looked after. I would highly recommend Saga cruises to all single travellers.
Having sailed on Sapphire, I can vouch for the food! I even have a quote taken from a review I left on my last cruise in the 2016 Saga Cruise brochure. Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing. Must look to book another cruise now!
Revived many memories for me, we enjoyed the deck BBQ,s so much on offer, didn’t get to East to West as my other half doesn’t like spicy but Pole to Pole was so good that we didn’t miss out.
I did. They were very good! You had to let the chef know the day before of any specific veggie dishes, but there was a full vegetarian menu on request.
Overall, the food looks quite good. I can’t help but comment on the hash-browns. It seems that most hotels and ships get them from the same freezer. That fillet steak looks like it would need an urn if it had been cooked any longer. Of course, no offence is intended if you ordered it that way.

Did you notice whether the veggie choices were as good?
