Before joining Emerald Princess I was told that the food onboard was superb. In fact, I was told that the food on all Princess vessels was superb and I really can’t disagree! Emerald Princess quite literally is 113,561 tons of FOOD!
There are many dining options onboard including the Crown Grill (Deck 7) and Sabatini’s (Deck 16) – both of which incur an extra charge of $25 per person, but are BOTH definitely worth experiencing – three main dining rooms: Da Vinci and Michelangelo for anytime dining and Botticelli for fixed dining. You will also find the Trident Grill and Pizza and Ice Cream Bar outside on Deck 15. Cafe Caribe and Horizon Court – buffet restaurants – which are also on Deck 15 and then there is the International Cafe on Deck 5, which is open 24-hours and serves sandwiches, fresh pasta and cakes. Don’t forget you also have the options of room service, tapas at the Vines Wine Bar and I did see a “Crab Shack” advertised once during my cruise. Is your tummy full up yet? 😉
I could sit and tell you a million things about the food, but of course I took photographs so that I can show you instead. What I do want to say though is that the selection of food available was very good, especially in the evening and at breakfast time. I think I actually managed to consume my entire body weight in shrimp and pizza over the course of 12 days. The Pizza was most certainly the best I have ever had at sea, but it had to be fresh out of the oven!
Now, time to let the images do the talking!

Pan-Seared Pacific Scallops – Fennel, Celery and Spring Onion Slaw, Golden Delicious Dressing and Moroccan Glaze. Served in the Crown Grill.

Fettuccine Alfredo – also available as a main course. Absolutely Delicious! Served in the Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli restaurants.

Seared Diver Scallops With Ginger-Lime Butter Sauce – Diced Tomatoes, Chervil, Broccoli Florets, Green Peas and Orzo Pasta. One of the BEST Scallop dishes I have ever had. Served in the Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli restaurants.

Warm Brownie with Hot Fudge Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream. Served in the Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli restaurants.

My evening selection in Horizon Court – Garlic & Chilli Prawns, Steamed Broccoli Florets, Cream of Asparagus Soup and a fresh, soft Brioche Roll.

Seared Diver Scallops in Three Citrus Nage – Freshly Squeezed Lemon, Lime & Orange Juice reduced with White Wine and bound with Butter, Warm Vegetable Juliennes and Red Bliss Potatoes. Served in the Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli restaurants.

Chocolate Lovers Delight – Dark Chocolate Truffle Mouse, Tiny Gateau Opera and Velvet Chocolate Brownie. Served in Da Vinci, Michelangelo and the Botticelli restaurants.

The worst ever photograph of the best ever Margherita Pizza! Apologies! I wish I had taken another – the Pepperoni was good too!

Mosaico di Verdure Grigliate e Porcini all’ Olio Vergine d’Oliva – Porcini Mushrooms, roasted Garlic, grilled Zucchini and Eggplant drizzled with Princess Cruises very own Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Served in Sabatini’s.

Burrata alla Panna con Carpaccio di Pomodori – Hand-formed Cow’s Milk Cheese with creamy lava centre on Tomato Carpaccio and Balsamic Syrup. Served in Sabatini’s.

The Chef’s Nightly Special Pasta. I can’t remember the name and I asked for mine without Mussels. It was delicious! Served in Sabatini’s.

Tris d’Aragosta – Lobster Three Ways – Lobster Tail, Lobster Orzotto and Lobster Bisque Sauce. Served in Sabatini’s.

Sinfonia di Sapori – Almond, Hazelnut and Pecan Florentine, Napoleon Blancmange, Praline Mousse and Caramel Pecan Brittle. Served in Sabatini’s.
I really wish I was back onboard, I know my clothes and I would have serious issues, but at least my tummy would be happy! 🙂
