For me travel is not just a chance to escape what can be the doom and gloom of UK weather, it’s not something I look to do as a “simple holiday”. Travel for me is a chance to learn, explore and grow as a human being.
Although the quote could be interpreted in many different ways and people will have their own reasons as to why travel makes them richer, for me, it offers a chance to spread ones wings, educate myself and learn about other cultures. I see this as making me richer because I know I am not ignorant to what goes on in the world around me. I appreciate people come from all different backgrounds and what I believe in someone else may not but, that does not mean I am going to judge them for it, if anything I am intrigued to learn and understand more.
Travel allows you to not simply dismiss something because you don’t understand it, if anything it sparks a fire within that makes you want to LEARN more!
I look at it like this, to actually get out there and see things for you is the ideal way to learn and a cruise is the perfect way. You get the chance to wake up somewhere new almost every day. I woke up one morning in Malta and the next in Israel. It doesn’t get more diverse than that. Two entirely different countries and I was lucky enough to experience both in one voyage.
Sometimes though, you don’t need to go too far to experience something new. I live not far from the Scottish border and I can be in Edinburgh in little over an hour. Just over an hour away from me the people enjoy a deep fried mars bar, something that makes the people where I live cringe. Travel can be as close to home or as far away as you want it to be but there will always be something to learn from it.
The overall point of today’s blog is this; travel makes you richer because you could have all the money in the world but if you don’t see further than what simply lies just beyond your front door then that money is worth nothing more than the paper it is printed on and your mind remains in stalemate.
YOLO – You Only Live Once – So get out there and see your world!
