My Cruise Bucket List

There are so many things it seems these days that we need to create a bucket list for but personally for me, the only thing that needs one is travel. If there is one thing I have come to appreciate in the last few years it is the fact I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to do so. I know many people who have never even left our region let alone the country.

To me travel is more than just packing a bag and heading off to a sun soaked Spain for 2 weeks. I enjoy the sense of utter freedom that takes over your mind when you travel, all you are “worried” about is what you are going to do and see today. I thrive on the cultural experiences, the chance to learn about the world’s historic landmarks whilst standing literally right in front of them. When you put everything together really, who would not want to travel?

Back to the topic at hand, the bucket list, I’m not entirely sure if you could even call the following a bucket list but what else would I call it? the “Cruises I Would Like To Do List”? does not quite have the same ring to it.

First on my list has to be the transatlantic voyage from Southampton to New York onboard Queen Mary 2. I am DESPERATE to do this. I did in fact book both East and Westbound sailings for last year. My friend and I had planned to spend a few months in the USA but unfortunately we had to put our trip on hold.

Second is an expedition cruise. I know this is something I would thoroughly enjoy. The chance to get more at one with nature, up close and personal with some of the greatest mammals on the planet. What more could you want? Well it would be rather impressive if the expedition ship was also an ice breaker J

Third has to be a Panama Canal experience. I have a friend who has been lucky enough to do this twice now and both times on world cruises I may add! (Not jealous at all…just for the record) and her tales of it……they just give me that extra push to say right! One day I am doing it!

So as to not be greedy I will stop at four, and this one is last but by no means least. Well, technically it’s not last but if I try to list them all we could be here for a very long time. So number four is to experience a world cruise. Now a world cruise may well include NYC which many could say would make my first bucket list cruise pointless but to a real cruiser, one has to at some point sail into NYC onboard the QM2……it’s almost like a religion.

All in want to do is see our world. Experience places I never thought I would ever visit. Immerse myself in other cultures; learn about other ways of life and religions. We are born to grow; whilst we grow I truly feel it is important to never stop learning and experiencing new things. Don’t go through life with your eyes closed because the best years of it will be gone before you know it.
