Around The World in 180 Days

Oceania-InsigniaIn January 2015 Oceania Cruises, Insignia shall depart Miami for her ‘Around the World in 180 Days’ world cruise. I had a look at the itinerary for this sailing and the only words that I have for you in response are ‘absolutely incredible’.

It’s a world cruise so of course everything about it is going to be far more impressive than your standard two week voyage but this cruise is in a different league.

Insignia will call at 89 ports in 44 countries and offer a grand total of 19 overnight stays.  She will visit Colombia, Aruba, South Africa, China, India, Australia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Kenya and South Korea just to name a VERY SMALL few! Of the 89 ports visited on this cruise, 13 are new to Oceania Cruises, including Corinto, Nicaragua; El Guamache (Isla Margarita), Venezuela; Langkawi, Malaysia; Santa Marta, Colombia; and Xiamen, China.

Her overnight stays include Cairns, Bali, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Cape Town, Namibia, Burma and Hong Kong.

In addition to crossing the equator four times and sailing through all 24 time zones, the Around the World in 180 Days cruise will traverse three oceans and 10 seas, call on 45 islands and offer the chance to visit 47 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

It’s the kind of cruise that could never be beaten, once you embarked on this journey no other could ever come close to competing with it, unless of course you do another world cruise!

The cruise offers a wonderful mix of everything. You have the Caribbean islands to soak up some sun, relax and generally not do a lot then you have the hustle and bustle of Asia, a place I would love to visit one day, where you can explore each and every corner and with plenty of time to spare as a lot of the big cities are overnight calls.

The Cruise Line UK has even started a Pinterest board specifically for this cruise, referred to as a ‘pre-cruise destination diary’. The idea The-Cruise-Linebehind it; to showcase Insignia’s ports of call visually instead of just talking about them. I think it’s a great idea. So many ports and so much to see, what a fab way to engage with people and show them what they could be out there experiencing for themselves. Around the World in 180 Days With Oceania Cruises is the title and it’s going to be full to the brim with pictures!

I wish I could sit here and tell you that I would be going on the cruise but sadly one shall be dreaming about it instead. Unless I win the lottery between now and then of course, that could move the goal posts slightly 😉

For more info on the cruise and a full itinerary then look at the dedicated page on the Cruise Line UK website, she only has space on board for 684 guests so you best be quick!
