After spending 4 weeks on a ship with all the amazing and rich food I really did crave something totally bland and simple like homemade scrambled eggs on toast or some “bung in the microwave” oats so simple. All I wanted was something that wasn’t so moreish.
So what else? Well I did long for a bath, our cabin only had a shower and although it was a decent size it was hardly a nice hot bath. I also desperately wanted my double bed back. I cruise with friends so we get a twin cabin which equals a single bed each. Have you any idea how difficult it is to NOT head butt the cabin wall every night or end up clinging onto the duvet for dear life in order to avoid hitting the floor. Simply because whilst half asleep you are sure your teeny weeny tiny bed is actually as big as your own double. It is not nice and every cruise I do the same thing. My cruise in September last year was exactly the same, although only 12 nights I still managed to fight with the wall and floor every night.
Another thing I look forward to as crazy as it sounds is brushing my teeth with ice cold water. I don’t know if it is just me but I always find the cold water in the cabin bathroom sink is actually luke warm, does anyone else find this too?
Other random things I miss whilst on a cruise are my Yankee Candles, I am addicted to them!! but obviously I can’t take candles on my cruise, well I could but I couldn’t light them so there would be no point. I think I have 22 now so you can surely see my dilemma….. 😉
Today’s blog point is that we always think of the things we would miss if we were away from home for a long time either if we worked on board or were simply on a long cruise. They are usually along the lines of family, pets, friends and other loved ones but sometimes the simple things in life make a big difference too, just like my need for scrambled eggs and a double bed I am sure you have things in life you would long for that were a little outside of the norm.
